Cross-Border Freight
A cross-border shipment is not a domestic shipment with an extra stop. It is three or four separate operations that have to line up on the same day — and it fails at the joins.
DCI Logistics LLC arranges cross-border freight movements between Mexico, the United States and Canada. We hold the shipment as a single file from the moment it is tendered until the proof of delivery comes back, and we coordinate each party that touches it along the way.
That means the northbound carrier, the transfer at the crossing, the customs broker’s documentation window, the U.S. or Canadian linehaul carrier and the delivery appointment are planned against each other — not booked independently and reconciled afterwards.
How a crossing is put together

Lane review
We look at origin, destination, commodity, equipment, crossing and timing before quoting, because on a border lane those variables are not independent.

Capacity
Capacity is secured on each side with authorized motor carriers vetted for authority, insurance and safety history.

Documentation
Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and any permits are assembled and checked against the crossing requirements before the equipment is at the bridge.

Transfer
Where the lane calls for a change of equipment, trailer-to-trailer transfer is arranged at the crossing and sequenced against the customs window.

Customs coordination
We coordinate with the licensed customs broker filing the entry. DCI does not file customs entries; we make sure the broker has what they need, when they need it.

Delivery
The final-mile carrier is scheduled to the receiver’s appointment, and the file closes with the POD attached to the shipment reference.

Frequently asked
Does DCI Logistics operate the trucks that cross the border?
No. DCI Logistics LLC is a licensed property broker (USDOT 4303609, MC-1676403). We arrange transportation and coordinate the movement; the freight is physically transported by independent, authorized motor carriers under their own operating authority and insurance.
Does DCI clear my shipment through customs?
No. Customs entries are filed by a licensed customs broker. What we provide is customs coordination — assembling the documentation, getting it to the broker in time and sequencing the physical movement around the customs window.
Who insures the cargo on a Mexico movement?
Mexico shipments must be insured by the customer unless cargo insurance is arranged by DCI Logistics LLC at the customer’s express request. Requesting that we arrange it is a request, not confirmation of coverage — coverage exists only once we confirm it in writing.
