Financial responsibility

FMCSA requires every property broker to maintain a surety bond or trust fund in effect for $75,000 under 49 CFR 387.307. A broker licence remains valid only for as long as that security remains in effect.

DCI Logistics LLC holds the required security on file with FMCSA in the form of a property broker surety bond (Form BMC-84). The filing is a public record and can be checked in the FMCSA Licensing & Insurance system against our docket number.

Broker bond ≠ cargo insurance

The BMC-84 bond provides for payments to shippers or motor carriers if the broker fails to carry out its contracts, agreements or arrangements for the supplying of transportation by authorized motor carriers. It does not insure your freight against loss or damage. That is cargo insurance — a different cover, with different parties, different scope and a different claims process.

Our legal role

DCI Logistics LLC operates as a licensed property broker under federal authority. A property broker arranges transportation; it does not perform it. The distinction is legal rather than cosmetic, and it determines who answers for what.

DCI Logistics LLC — broker

  • Arranges and coordinates transportation
  • Selects and vets authorized motor carriers
  • Assembles and coordinates documentation
  • Coordinates transfer, customs and warehousing with licensed parties
  • Holds status, communication and accountability for the file

Motor carrier

  • Physically transports the freight
  • Operates under its own federal authority
  • Provides the equipment and the drivers
  • Maintains its own liability and cargo insurance
  • Is responsible in its capacity as the motor carrier

Cross-border compliance

A cross-border movement involves several regulated parties, each acting within its own licence. Being explicit about who does what avoids the most common misunderstanding in this business: assuming one provider can do all of it.

  • Customs entry: filed by a licensed customs broker. DCI does not clear customs.
  • Transportation: performed by authorized motor carriers on each side of the border.
  • Drayage: performed by a drayage carrier at the crossing.
  • Coordination: that is what DCI provides, and what DCI answers for.

Our role is to make sure the documentation reaches whoever needs it, complete and on time, and that the physical movement is sequenced around those windows.

Supply chain security

We are going to be explicit here, because this industry is full of badges nobody can check.

DCI Logistics LLC does not claim CTPAT certification, FAST participation, OEA authorisation or ISO certification on this website. We do not publish a mark a customer cannot verify. If we obtain any of those statuses and can evidence them, they will appear here with the certificate number, the certifying body and the validity period.

What we do practise, and can stand behind, is this:

  • Authority, insurance and safety-history verification on every carrier before freight is tendered
  • Pre-crossing documentation control to avoid avoidable holds
  • Count and condition verification at transfer points
  • Internal controls against double brokering, carrier identity fraud and payment diversion
  • Shipment information kept private — no customer data or live positions published

Cargo insurance

DCI Logistics LLC policy for shipments involving Mexico, reproduced in full:

Mexico shipments must be insured by the customer unless cargo insurance is arranged by DCI Logistics LLC at the customer’s express request.

Requesting that DCI arrange cargo insurance records a request. It is not a policy and it is not confirmation of cover — cover exists only once DCI Logistics LLC confirms it in writing.

Carrier standards

A broker is worth exactly what its carriers are worth. Before a carrier moves freight for us we verify the following — and we repeat it rather than doing it once at onboarding:

  • Active FMCSA operating authority
  • Current insurance certificates with limits appropriate to the freight
  • Safety history and public performance data
  • Carrier identity, and that contact and payment details match the record
  • Capability and equipment suited to the commodity and the lane

We do not publish the detail of our anti-fraud controls. Publishing the procedure makes it easier to evade. Information for carriers .

Data & website security

  • The entire site is served over HTTPS only, with HSTS enabled.
  • The quote form is validated and sanitised server-side, with payload limits, anti-spam measures and rate limiting.
  • Shipment information never travels in the URL, in query parameters, or in analytics events.
  • No customer data, real shipments, cargo values, documents or driver details are published on this site.
  • Mail and service credentials live only on the server — outside the repository and outside any HTTP response.
  • Non-essential cookies do not load until you allow them.
