LTL & Consolidation

Not every shipment fills a trailer. Paying for one anyway is a choice, not a requirement.

We arrange LTL and consolidated freight across the United States and on cross-border lanes. For Mexico movements in particular, consolidation at or near the border is often the difference between a viable programme and one that only works at full-trailer volumes.

LTL asks more of the paperwork than truckload does — freight class, dimensions, piece count and accurate descriptions all affect cost and all affect the crossing. We get those right before the shipment moves, which is cheaper than correcting them afterwards.

How we handle it

  1. 01

    Classification

Commodity, dimensions, density and packaging reviewed so the freight is described accurately from the start.

  2. 02

    Consolidation

Where volume justifies it, shipments are consolidated at or near the border so a single trailer crosses instead of several partials.

  3. 03

    Crossing

Consolidated cross-border freight is documented per shipper and per consignee, because a shared trailer does not mean shared paperwork.

  4. 04

    Deconsolidation

Break-bulk and final-mile distribution arranged on the destination side.

What comes with it

  • Freight description and classification review before tender
  • Consolidation and deconsolidation coordination
  • Cross-border LTL documentation handled per shipment, not per trailer
  • Pickup and delivery appointment management
  • Status and proof of delivery per shipment reference

A good fit when

  • You ship regular partial loads to Mexico and are currently paying full-truckload rates
  • You have multiple small consignees on the destination side
  • Your freight is being reclassified and re-billed after the fact
  • You want consolidation without losing per-shipment traceability

Frequently asked

  • Can LTL freight cross into Mexico?

Yes. Cross-border LTL is routine, and consolidation near the crossing is often what makes a partial-load Mexico programme economic. Each shipment on a consolidated trailer still needs its own commercial documentation.

  • Why does freight class matter so much?

Class drives cost, and an inaccurate description drives re-bills. On a cross-border move it also affects the customs documentation, so an error costs time at the crossing as well as money on the invoice.
